Girl Scout Workshops

We spent time working with the local Girl Scout organization to make sure that we can provide workshops that are not only informative, but educational. We provide all of the equipment and the supervision necessary to ensure that the girls will meet all of the requirements of the respective badges. These workshops are designed not only to meet those requirements, but to entertain the girls and leaders at the same time. Brownie Try Its

Puppets, Dolls and Plays

This Puppet Workshop meets 4 of the requirements for the scouts to earn the “Puppets, Dolls, and Plays” Brownie Try It. The girls learn about all the different kinds of puppets and enjoy making their very own puppets. These puppets include a paper bag puppet, a marionette and a very cute sock puppet. They will also learn about staging for puppet shows and perform thaeir very own show.

Junior Girl Scout Badges

Toymaker

This workshop completes 6 of the activities that help the girls earn the “Toymaker” badge. The girls learn about the different kinds of puppets and they finish their own toy puppet. They learn about toys around the world and toys through history. They create their very own board game and create their own “trash toy” made from anything that might be thrown away like boxes, cans, string, buttons, newspapers, etc. They also learn about toy safety.

Science Wonders

This Science Production meets 4 of the requirements for the girls to earn the “Science Wonders” Brownie Try It. The girls make their own crystal farm and they make bubbles and the bubble solution that is needed. They also learn about static electricity and magnetic properties and participate in a magnet hunt.

Camera Shops

This workshop completes 6 of the activities that help the girls earn the “Camera Shots” badge. They learn about the different types of cameras and film. They learn about and practice taking portraits. They learn how to take care of cameras and video equipment. They participate in a screen test and screening and see how they can make it better. They also see how videos are edited and how special effects are applied.
